INTERIOR DESIGN
For
those with a creative instincts and a passion for design, our Interior
Design program introduces students to the design trade.
LaSalle
International College Vancouver offers its students complete training
to meet the requirements of the job market. Graduates may follow
one of three career paths: residential, commercial or institutional
design.
For
whom?
This program is for those who know the value of living and working
environments and are passionate about design. Applicants need to
have a good sense of aesthetics and some technical knowledge as
the course does include some computer work.
Requirements
As part of your application for this program, you will be required
to go through an interview process. (Speak to the adviser at the
admissions office for details of the necessary preparations.)
Program
objectives
- Learn
to design functional and aesthetic residential and commercial
spaces which respect the client's needs, standards and constraints.
- Learn
how to use sketches to illustrate a concept including drawing
technical plans for your designs using a draft table and a computer
- Acquire
knowledge on which materials are appropriate to a particular job
- Learn
the techniques used for presenting a project
Employment
Possibilities
Interior Design students will receive advanced training on AutoCAD,
which will enable them to integrate computer skills and drawing
techniques used for presentations. As a design graduate you may
follow one of three career paths: residential, commercial or institutional
design. You could work for a design firm, starting as a junior designer
and work up to the duties of a senior designer or project manager.
Or you could also work for a specialized firm as a design consultant.
After
years of experience, you may be able to open your own business and
recruit your own clients.
CALENDAR & TUITION FEES
Interior Design
- 3
sessions per year, each of 15 weeks (total: 45 weeks)
- 20
hours of class time per week (300 hours per Certificate)
- All
classes have a maximum of 12 students.
- Minimum
age is 19 years old (or High School Graduate)
No pre-requisites required

Our Interior Design program leads to an Attestation of Collegial
Studies Diploma
Materials: A detailed list of the required materials will
be provided to you on the first day of class. We strongly suggest
that you buy nothing unless specified by your instructor. Your instructor
will also be able to guide you in finding the best bargains. (Prices
vary on the quality, however be prepared to pay around $300 in material
fees for your first semester. The cost of materials diminishes in
the subsequent 2 semesters.)

> Interior Design Certificate: Learning and creating on
various interiors (Commercial Design)
> Advanced Interior Design Certificate: Creating and producing
various interior & preparing a portfolio (Industrial Design)
